Requirements

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The University selects students carefully, without discrimination as to race, creed, colour, sex, or place of national origin. Mature students who show promise of achieving their academic objectives will be accepted.

Evaluation of an applicant’s ability to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate study is based on prior academic work (particularly in the chosen field or major) educational seminars, workshops, job-related training, professional and occupational experience.

 

Bachelor’s Degrees

Applicants must have at least 30 college credits or the equivalent.

 

Master’s Degrees

Applicants for Master must hold a Bachelor’s degree in the same or related field. On this level, the student becomes involved with creative research in a chosen field. Student who have shown mastery in the chosen field or major) educational seminars, Diplomas, workshops, job-related training, professional and occupational experience. The thesis should exemplify an original scholarly research project that adds to the body of knowledge in a particular subject.

Doctoral Degrees

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in the same or related field. On this level, the student become involved with creative research in a chosen field. The dissertation should exemplify an original, scholarly research project that adds to the body of knowledge in a particular subject.

 

AWARDING OF CREDIT FOR ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

The University will accept in transfer the following maximum credits.

 

Bachelor’s Degrees

A maximum of 84 semester units may be accepted in transfer from other institutions, or accepted in the form of documented work/professional experience. No more than 24 of the 84 units may be awarded for professional experience/seminars, and/or documented in-house training.

Master’s Degrees

A maximum of 6 semester units may be accepted in transfer from other institutions, or accepted in the form of documented work/professional experience.

 

Doctoral Degrees

A maximum of 6 semester units may be accepted in transfer from other institutions.

POLICY OF AWARDING CREDIT FOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING:

A.        (1)       The prior learning equates to a college or university level of

                        Learning

(2)       The learning experience demonstrates a balance between theory and practice.

(3)       The credit awarded for the prior learning experience directly relates to the student’s degree program and is applied towards satisfaction of certain degree requirements.

 

B.        Learning experience for which credit is sought is required to be documented.

 

C.        All documentation for prior learning credit is evaluated by faculty in that specific subject area.

 

AWARDING OF CREDIT:

(1)       Of the first 60 semester units awarded a student in an undergraduate program, no more than 15 semester units may be awarded for experiential learning.

(2)       Of the second 60 semester units (i.e. 61 to 120) awarded a student in an undergraduate program, no more than 15 semester units may be awarded for experiential learning.

 

(3)       Of the first 30 semester units awarded a student in a graduate program, no more than 6 semester units may be awarded for experiential learning.

 

(4)       Of the second 30 semester units (i.e. 31 to 60) awarded a student in a graduate program, no more than 3 semester units may be awarded for experiential learning.

 

(5)       No credit for experiential learning may be awarded after a student has obtained 60 semester units in a graduate program.

 

STEPS TO ENROLMENT

1.        The applicant submits: (a) signed application for admission, (b) resume or brief description of work and academic background, (c)Application  fees $400.00.

 

2.        Application and information submitted is reviewed and applicant contract is made for additional particulars, if needed. The applicant is then notified if he/she qualifies for enrolment.

 

3.        If the applicant qualifies, academic credit for life and work experience is discussed and a provisional academic assessment and award is made.

 

4.        A proposed study plan is suggested in keeping with the academic goals of the student. The student is required to study only those courses that are essential to his selected degree program. If necessary, we will contact the student’s employer to properly focus on the courses needed by the student.

 

5.        Appropriate study materials are sent. Study begins.

 

ACADEMIC POLICIES

The university reserves the right to suspended or terminate a student from any program for any of the following reasons:

1.     Failure to submit work or communicate with the University within a 60 day period.

2.     Falsification of any work or records submitted for review and credit.

3.     Inadequate scholastic performance.

4.     Failure to maintain tuition payments.

5.     Failure to make satisfactory progress towards degree completion

 

 

 

Grading Scale

1.     90% - 100%                    A

2.     70%  - 89%                     C

3.     50% - 69%                      C

4.     49% - Below                   F

 

6.  Students must maintain a C average or better for graduation.

7.  Graduate students must maintain a B average or above for graduation.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Bachelor Degree

1.        Accumulate a minimum of 120 units of credit, and

2.        Complete a minimum of 36 units of instructional coursework at Castle Park University.

 

Master of Science Degree

1.        Accumulate a minimum of 36 units of credit,

2.        Complete a minimum of 24 units of instructional course work at Castle Park University,

3.        Complete an approved Master’s thesis or research project (6 units).

 

Doctorate  Degree

1.        Accumulate a minimum of 58 units of credit

2.        Complete a minimum of 40 units of instructional coursework at Castle Park University, and

3.        Complete an approved Doctoral Dissertation (12 units)
